Glucosamine is an aminosaccharide found in all body tissues, most notably in the kidneys, liver, and cartilage. It prevents the breakdown of connective joint tissue and helps to form new ones. Glucosamine is most often taken as part of adjunctive therapies for osteoarthritis and as a preventive measure against cartilage wear in athletes, recreational and also the rest, especially the elderly population.
